It is no fun to have low energy, aches, leg cramps, colds, dry skin, twitching muscles and digestive problems. I experienced iron deficiency anemia and low calcium levels leading to osteopenia and low bone density. Going under a surgeon’s knife to remove enlarged parathyroid glands at age 47 (followed later by a second surgery to remove two tumor growths) was a wake-up call for me to change my lifestyle.
I thought my lifestyle was healthy. I jogged in fun runs. I worked hard and thought it was normal to crave bread, peanut butter and ice cream after long stressful days. Instead of the Standard American Diet (SAD) of fast food, fried food, chips and diet soda I chose natural food sources for protein, carbohydrates and fats. But, that didn't work. As a world traveler I went on to learn Super Foods from natives in Brazil, China, Thailand and Jamaica--and I will gladly share my knowledge with you. At age 59 I recovered my energy finished the Alaska marathon, climbed a 14,400 ft. peak and biked New Zealand’s North Island. I continue adventure travel at 70+ by learning to avoid dis-ease and choosing to eat super foods. I let my body tell me what foods give me energy.
