Welcome to Happy Raw Food.com! I want to share my experiences as a raw food chef, marathon finisher, world traveler--and oh, yes! -- After living on dairy products and wheat I went vegan and gluten free to enjoy more energy.
What motivated me to change my lifestyle?
Having surgery to remove enlarged parathyroid glands at 47 (followed by a second surgery to remove two tumors) was a wake-up to change my lifestyle. After my grandson developed diabetes I joined in JDRF walks and read The China Study.
I thought my lifestyle was healthy. I jogged in fun runs.
I thought it was normal to crave bread and peanut butter.
Instead of the Standard American Diet (SAD) of fried food, chips and diet soda I chose natural foods with salmon for protein, whole grain "carbs" and olive oil. But, that didn't work.
I learned superfoods in Thailand, Brazil and Jamaica--and will gladly share my knowledge with you. I also learned to give up cravings and lost 40 lbs. Along the way I regained my energy, completed the Alaska marathon at age 59, climbed Colorado's Mt. Elbert (14,400 ft.) and biked New Zealand's North Island.
My body tells me what foods give me energy. Let the taste and energy from fresh foods full of enzymes be your guide!
